Richard has a great love of storytelling and classic radio – the “theatre of the mind”!
Richard Usher is a passionate actor, storyteller and seasoned comedy performer, with a deep love for the art of classic radio – the “theatre of the mind.” His career is a testament to his dedication to bringing stories to life, whether through voice-over work, stage performances, or film.
Richard will be making more appearances as Peter Sellers this September, first as the guest performer for the Tony Hancock Appreciation Society Annual Dinner, and then on stage at the Palace Theatre in Redditch for the Talking Pictures Festival of Film & TV. He will re-create long forgotten one-man Goon Show sketches written by comedy legends Galton & Simpson.
October sees a return to the role of storyteller for Neu Noir Theatre Company, presenting an intimate reading of Algernon Blackwood’s The Listener.
Richard continues to record audiobooks for Sweet Cherry Publishing and the Readmio storytelling app, work that perfectly aligns with his love for timeless stories.
Richard has toured theatres with the first-ever stage adaptations of beloved BBC Radio comedy shows, The Goon Show! and The Navy Lark! and the world premiere of Vacant Lot, a long lost comedy script written for Tony Hancock.
On the screen, Richard appeared as the assassin’s handler, Charlie, in the award-winning short film Dead Meet.
With a career steeped in the rich traditions of storytelling, film and classic radio, Richard Usher continues to enchant and entertain audiences, bringing stories to life in ways that resonate deeply with the mind and imagination.
